Most likely your using a dialup connection, and in some places they can really be slow.
Why does it take so long to open an email message in Vista with Windows Mail?
Could be a number of things:
Remember your pc and file system have to work with slower servers and the networks they run.
probably the others can't keep up
in case thats not the the scenario, check your firewall and your account settings.
Also, got to remember about virus protection.
