hello,
I am setting up new laptop but I have problem with my yahoo emails to be in outlook email account thing...
i can RECEIVE emails
but not SEND anything at all....
I've checked few times if I have correct outgoing and incoming setting s for emails and everyting is OK..
Please help.. :(

Try downloading opera browser, its free. It has a thing called magic wand that remembers passwords for each site, just press it and click. Its so much easier and especially good if you have multiple yahoo addresses as it just has a list and you dont have to type anything.

Where can I find an email program that uses HTTP mail and is adaptable with Windows Vista?
I have a new laptop that uses Windows Vista. It has the new Windows Mail instead of Outlook Express and I was disappointed to find that it doesn't handle HTTP mail. Therefore, I can't use my Hotmail account with it. Is there any other program that I can install that handles HTTP mail? I did search for Outlook Express downloads and found some but am hesitant about downloading from these unknown sources and don't even know if Outlook Express would work with Vista?

Right click it, click "Open With", and in that menu, select "Choose Program", then select "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer." Make sure "Always use this program" is checked.

Ok, I hate the new Windows Live Hotmail, is there any email out there that is similiar to the old hotmail?
I was forced to move to the new Windows Live Hotmail and it blows bigtime. I'm not looking to move to another product that allows me to check my email with the same ease of use, can anyone recommend a good one. Important stuff for me is the ability to turn off any and all spam and junkmail filtering, show lots of messages per page (used to show 100 in hotmail) and ability to store like up to 1GB of emails. The new version only shows a few per page, the interface sucks, I hate the scolling panes and can't stand having to click on every message to approve to show attachments and content, just a major pain in the rear. Any help anyone can provide to point me to a decent product would be great.

Your settings aren't right in your Outlook. You need to have your incoming mail server setup correctly according to what email server you are using. For example, I use my Gmail through outlook and this is what my Incoming Mail Server looks like... imap.gmail.com. Something along this line, is what you need to have setup.

Different things seem to work for different people. It's causing attachments to not show, 999 errors where it won't let you do a particular action and some people cannot send receive delete or move mail. It's not just Vista either it's happening to some of us on XP. Reply:This depends on the account information. Basically, Windows Mail is just a client (newer version of Outlook Express) and it just connects you to your e-mail account.
In order to make it work, you must know the correct settings (ports, server addresses, user/pass, etc) which you can get from the website where you have the e-mail address (ex: Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc).
Read there FAQs.

when on a website like craigslist that requires an email response, my computer has to use the program the host site,(craigslist) uses in my comp. so, it is not setup and I try to do so, until it asks me computer language questions like pop3 and html. Reply:Generally speaking pop3 is the server address of your email provider for example a blueyonder address would need pop3.blueyonder.co.uk thats the pop3 protocal needed, to find out what your pop3 is check and log into your email provider and go to email support they usually have it listed in there also your username %26amp; password is required by outlook to log into the email server. also you will need the SMTP another example would be smtp.blueyonder.co.uk.
Another point worth mentioning is outlook express does not accomidate web mail addresses aka @hotmail.com @live.com @yahoo.com etc any of those accounts would not work because they are not pop3 server based.

it went on to say this file does not have a program associated with it, for performing this action, create an association in the control panel, icannot see anything in the control panel to connect to i am new to vista and computers .help it opened my other attachments with no problem.

I'm having problems with Windows Email?
When I download my email, there are always a lot of ads and other junk mail. In fact, there's so much of it, I'll get an error message before all the messages are delivered and it stops delivering. I painstakingly delete the junk and then empty the "deleted items" folder. And try continuing the download. Much to my consternation, all the junk mail that I deleted makes another appearance. How can that be, when it's been deleted? Anyway, I have to make several attempts to delete the junk, get the error message, log off, log on again, continue to try and receive the messages, and get all the deleted ones back, etc., etc. Finally, in desperation, I delete all the messages, and whatdoya know, the all come back again!!! How can I stop this madness? This only happens when I get more messages than my email account can handle. I check my mail every day, and I've tried unsubscribing the junk mail (not that I ever subscribed in the first place) but that hasn't helped since I keep getting more junk mail. I'm about ready to turn into a junkie myself! Can anyone help? I have Windows Vista Home edition and Windows Mail, and Cox is my ISP.

Sounds like you have a corrupt message in your account. Unfortunately, Windows won't delete the messages from the server until they've all be received, which is why it'll just keep happening over and over.

Struggling to set up my windows email can you please help me anyone?
My yahoo email is taking ages to upload each picture and I have lots of pictures to send. Due to this I tried to set up my yahoo email to go through my windows email but where it talks about the POP3 or IMAP and SMTP I do not know what to put in there? And can I use my yahoo email through this or do I have to set up a microsoft.com email address. If anyone could help asap I woud much appreciate it.

I assume your using Microsoft Outlook Express. You don't need to worry about IMAP but you do need to know the POP3 and SMTP. POP3 is used to get Emails to your inbox and SMTP is used to send Emails. You need to use :
POP3 = plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
SMTP = plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
However before making these changes I recommend that you reset your browser and log back into Yahoo as the task you want to do is very easy using Webmail. Also try another web browser such as Firefox - http://www.getfirefox.com
When setting up SMTP make sure you enable SSL and enter the port number as 465
That should let you send mail.
The problem you are having is that SSL is not enabled. If you enable SSL enter the port as 465. If you cant enable SSL then go to the SMTP settings and change the port from 25 to 587.
Your internet provider will block port 25 and that is why you cannot send email. So change this to 587.
You should now be able to send mail.

I am working in Windows Email (Vista version)
I am trying to create a hyperlink in the body of the email that, when clicked on, will create an email that is
1. Addressed to two individuals,
2. Will allow me to specify the subject of the email
3. Will allow me to insert some text in the body of the email.
So far I have written - my email I am sending out, and have highlighted some text 'click here to reply' I have then gone to 'INSERT' and then 'HYPERLINK' and in the rop down box selected 'MAILTO:' I insert both email addresses with a semi-clon in between.
This is as far as I can get - I have tested what I have done and the link creates an email but I am not given the option to choose subject title and text in the email.
Any ideas?

In the dialog box that opens, click the "programs" tab across the top, and then, click the down arrow at the end of the Email line, and choose Yahoo Mail. Apply and OK.
If Yahoo doesn't appear on the list, as one of the choices-----(((it usually doesn't)))----you will have to download (or re-download) Messenger---all of it----and that will put Yahoo on the list.
Now go back (tools-internet options-programs) and you will able to select Yahoo---apply and ok.
Later, you can remove Messenger---if you don't want it---without affecting the setting.

Verizon yahoo email receiving isues on vista windows email?
I have a verizon.yahoo.net email account that was working fine prior to setting up my new dell with vista. I can send email, but receiving is unpredictable, works sometimes, most times the email client times out, (no file attachments). It appears as if messages are receiving, but the program will time out before the messages are loaded. Hours later when checking email, the messages appear. I'm getting the run around from verizon, dell and microsoft. I feel confident the incoming/outgoing mail settings are correct. They are the same as worked with 98SE setup. I've tried downloading other email clients, Mozilla Firebird with same results. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

At work I use Outlook and I can access internet options and customize my email to let me know when an email I have sent has been opened. I get a return receipt.
I have Outlook 2007, Word 2007 and Works Portfolio on the Office Edition I recently purchased separate from my Vista Home Basic.
Is it not included or have I been looking in the wrong place?

I need a free email software that I can send screen captures with as easy as possible. I don't know why even Vista's Windows Email STILL isn't convenient and super simple to send (and receive) screen captures.. Isn't this the day of high tech and super easy transmissions? Why does one have to save the dang thing first or put it in word as file and then attach it? And if one DOES succeed in putting an image in the body of an email, then why can't the receiver SEE it? Instead all he gets if a bunch of * or something equally stupid.

OK, nobody can create a screen shot and then send it via email without first saving it via Paint or some other photo editing application, then either attaching the image file to the email or sending it in an "inline" or inserted image in the body of the email. Nobody. This is an impossible feat you are requesting of any email program, be it a Client email program or a browser based email program.
Whenever any type of file is created it first must be saved. If you are comparing this to Office, where you can click Sent To, and then select Email Recipient, the program first saves the file and then attaches the file to the email. It only *seems* like the document, excel sheet, or whatever type of file it is, is not being saved first as a file.
The act of sending a file straight from, lets say Word, is actually several actions carried out automatically behind the scene. My wife uses new email format and an 'encountered an error closing this window' message pops up when she tries to access her inbox. Logging in is fine, but clicking on any of her folders causes this error. I use old mailbox and have no issues. Please help! She's driving me nuts.

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. If you look you will find lots of people cannot send/receive/delete mail at the moment. I was advised to uninstall Javascript and then reinstall the latest version. This worked for me. If it does not for you then apparently it's only in the all new version. If you can pick up a laptop that comes without an OS or comes with Linux, that'll save you heaps of money. If you do that, get and install Ubuntu Linux (ubuntu.com), and learn how to use it. Its fairly easy to use, but may take some time, but getting your laptop ~$250 cheaper is far worth it, and Ubuntu supports loads of applications to do with home use :)
Regarding Vista: My advice is, avoid it like the plague.

When I try to bring up windows email, I get errors and this message. You are not currently logged into your computer as an administator. Please log out and log back in as administrator then restart computer. I tried this, still nothing. What am I doing wrong?

recently we've had a trojan vundo virus scare in my family with my mum's laptop and our desktop, both xp, but my laptop is vista nd avoided it. so my dad installed spyware doctor for extra protection on all computers. we share a wireless connection. Recently when i load up my computer, a message from symantec email proxy, spyware doctor and avast (although it doesnt seem to work) comes up saying basically the same thing: they cant manage my email protection and its now disabled. i dont even use the windows email, i use hotmail. now i cant even access the internet on my laptop, but the others can. please help!

1) Use a filter so the junk email is automatically sorted to another mail box.
2) Change your email address (and then be very careful who you give that address to).

Reply:It is just coincidence. Some one got into the mail server and got the addresses, or you used your e-mail address somewhere in a response to an ad, or even an on line purchase from a shady company that sold your info. OS has nothing to do with it since you are not your own mail server.
Reply:It may be you had junk filters set up on your mail client. These may not work on Vista, so you may need to set them up again. Your IP address has no effect on emails received, as you are collecting them from a server.

On alot of internet providers websites there is a link to a programme to run which will set all this in outlook for you all you need do then is to fill in usernames and passwords but pop3 and smtp are usually mail. followed by the name of your provider such as mail.btinternet.com

Since you're a Yahoo! mail user.. You can use Windows Mail as your email client to send and receive emails. If you have a "yahoo.com account [US accnt]", you have to purchase a Yahoo! Mail Plus subscription in order to use the POP3 and SMTP server for your Windows Mail. However, if your Yahoo! Mail account is "yahoo.co.uk [UK accnt]", you can use the POP3 and SMTP server for you Windows Mail FOR FREE..
So, if you have a "yahoo.co.uk" accnt,
the POP3 server is "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk"
for SMTP server is "smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk"
If you don't have a "yahoo.co.uk" accnt, and you don't want to purchase a Yahoo! Mail Plus subscription, I suggest you create a "yahoo.co.uk" accnt.. OR you can use other email accnt like gmail..

I have powerpoint, however when I try to open a pp presentation from my email it opens Windows Picture Manager

Yeah. Open up your Control Panel and select Folder Options. Choose the File Type tab. Find your PowerPoint files in this list. Select one file at a time and using the "change" button, select Powerpoint as the default. That should get you up and running again.
