I need to find some of my email that disappeared or was deleted from my email inbox. how can I find it and retrieve it
How can i recover deleted email in windows xp?
From the info you give, if you're using e-mail on Windows XP I would assume you're using Outlook Express. If you or someone deleted a message, look into the "Deleted Items" folder. If it isn't there, then I am afraid you won't get it back and it is already deleted. - But, whatever the mail server you're using, chances are the message might still be there. So go check directly (Yahoo, Hotmail, your ISP website) and see if the message still there. - By default Outlook Express deletes a message on the server after it has been retreived, but maybe you're lucky and you're not set up that way, so go to your mail server and check to see if that message is there somewhere whithin the folders.
Good luck. I hope this helped somehow.
Reply:Are you using Outlook Express, Thunderbird, or a Web access for your email? It makes a difference.
Reply:Would depend on how long it was deleted. The longer the mails have been deleted, the less likely it will be recoverable.
Reply:If it is web based, such as Yahoo, it will be in your trash box. If it is stored on your hard drive, such as Outlook/Outlook Express, then a hacker already has it, so ask him. If you dont want to be hacked again, then dump Microsoft and get open source such as www.kubuntu.org

How do I stop windows email(WE) deleting from my yahoo inbox? Do I untick somewhere in yahoo, or is it in WE?
I am a bit of a dummy, so please give me navigation instructions from a front page in which ever program I need to change. I read an answer to a similar question -- 'In your account settings you have the option to "delete messages from server". Uncheck that box.' -- but I could not find "account settings" in either yahoo or windows mail ... sob ...
How do I stop windows email(WE) deleting from my yahoo inbox? Do I untick somewhere in yahoo, or is it in WE?
If you mean you use Windows Outlook Express, you have to uncheck the box that says "Delete Mail From Server" or something like that.
If you are speaking of Outlook Express open it and choose Tools %26gt; Accounts.
Then select the account and choose Properties.
Choose the Advanced tab.
Check the box the says "Leave a copy of messages on server".
That should do it.

Stuck creating hyperlink for an email address in Windows Email (vista version)?
I am working in Windows Email (Vista version)
I am trying to create a hyperlink in the body of the email that, when clicked on, will create an email that is
1. Addressed to two individuals,
2. Will allow me to specify the subject of the email
3. Will allow me to insert some text in the body of the email.
So far I have written - my email I am sending out, and have highlighted some text 'click here to reply' I have then gone to 'INSERT' and then 'HYPERLINK' and in the rop down box selected 'MAILTO:' I insert both email addresses with a semi-clon in between.
This is as far as I can get - I have tested what I have done and the link creates an email but I am not given the option to choose subject title and text in the email.
Any ideas?

We have a new server. when i try to email web pages, windows does not recognize our new address. ?
Go into your email program and change the POP3 and SMTP servers to the new one (or ones - some providers use different addresses for incoming and outgoing email). Where you do that depends on which email program you use.

If i deleted an email on windows live hotmail can i get it back at all ?
i deleted an email and from my windows live hotmail email account i also emptied it from the 'deleted' folder is there any way of getting it back??
If i deleted an email on windows live hotmail can i get it back at all ?
Nope, it's history.
Reply:There is a way to actually recover emails that have been lost or deleted but you cannot do it manually. What you need is a data recovery program that specializes in restoring emails. Simply scan your computer and it will allow you to preview each and every lost email before you restore them. It can also bring back the attachments.
Try it out risk free at:

Reply:not that i know of could you get the sender to re send it then have a folder where you can save emails you wish to keep

How do I make yahoo my defualt email in Windows?
To make Yahoo the default Mail.
Click Tools%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;then click Internet Options.
In the dialog box that opens, click the "programs" tab across the top, and then, click the down arrow at the end of the Email line, and choose Yahoo Mail. Apply and OK.
If Yahoo doesn't appear on the list, as one of the choices-----(((it usually doesn't)))----you will have to download (or re-download) Messenger---all of it----and that will put Yahoo on the list.
Now go back (tools-internet options-programs) and you will able to select Yahoo---apply and ok.
Later, you can remove Messenger---if you don't want it---without affecting the setting.

Verizon yahoo email receiving isues on vista windows email?
I have a verizon.yahoo.net email account that was working fine prior to setting up my new dell with vista. I can send email, but receiving is unpredictable, works sometimes, most times the email client times out, (no file attachments). It appears as if messages are receiving, but the program will time out before the messages are loaded. Hours later when checking email, the messages appear. I'm getting the run around from verizon, dell and microsoft. I feel confident the incoming/outgoing mail settings are correct. They are the same as worked with 98SE setup. I've tried downloading other email clients, Mozilla Firebird with same results. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Windows Live Mail saying my email is incorrect?
Suddenly today it starts saying my ID or password is incorrect. So I tried resetting my password, but was unable to as it says my security answer is incorrect
Windows Live Mail saying my email is incorrect?
hi
SYMPTOMS
Windows Live Messenger could not sign you in because the sign-in name you entered does not exist or your password is incorrect. Error code: 80048823
SOLUTION
Before you start. Did you enter correct Username and Password?
1. The date on your computer needs to be set properly. Double click the clock verify that the time and date are set.
2. If your password information is not saved, verify that you are typing it in with the correct case (uppercase or lowercase).
3. Change your password at http://passport.com to something smaller (under 10-12 characters), then try signing in again.
4. If you use a firewall (like ZoneAlarm, Norton Internet Security etc.), it's possible that Messenger doesn't have the correct rights to access the Internet, especially since you upgraded. You may need to re/add Messenger to the allowed list of programs in your firewall if this is the case.
5. If you disabled your firewall in the past, it still may be blocking Messenger. Try restarting it and see if that helps the situation. You also might try uninstalling an installed firewall, to verify that it isn't causing a problem (even if it is disabled).
6. Clear your IE cache and cookies. Open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then Internet Options, then click the Delete Files button, and when that's complete click the Delete Cookies button.
7. Check your IE Security settings. Open Internet Explorer, click the Tools menu, then Internet Options, then Advanced tab, scroll to the Security section, and verify that "Check for server certificate revocation" is unchecked. Also verify that 'Use SSL 2.0' and Use SSL 3.0' is checked, then click OK.
8. Click Start, then Run, and enter the following:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
then click OK
and do the same for the following:
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
9. If using MSN Messenger 7, click the Tools menu, then Options, then Connection category, click the Advanced Settings button, uncheck all the options, click OK twice and then try again.

Free email software better than Windows Email easy to send screen captures with few clicks?
I need a free email software that I can send screen captures with as easy as possible. I don't know why even Vista's Windows Email STILL isn't convenient and super simple to send (and receive) screen captures.. Isn't this the day of high tech and super easy transmissions? Why does one have to save the dang thing first or put it in word as file and then attach it? And if one DOES succeed in putting an image in the body of an email, then why can't the receiver SEE it? Instead all he gets if a bunch of * or something equally stupid.
Free email software better than Windows Email easy to send screen captures with few clicks?
OK, nobody can create a screen shot and then send it via email without first saving it via Paint or some other photo editing application, then either attaching the image file to the email or sending it in an "inline" or inserted image in the body of the email. Nobody. This is an impossible feat you are requesting of any email program, be it a Client email program or a browser based email program.
Whenever any type of file is created it first must be saved. If you are comparing this to Office, where you can click Sent To, and then select Email Recipient, the program first saves the file and then attaches the file to the email. It only *seems* like the document, excel sheet, or whatever type of file it is, is not being saved first as a file.
The act of sending a file straight from, lets say Word, is actually several actions carried out automatically behind the scene. In Word, (or whichever Office application you wish to choose as an example) when you click File--Send To--Mail Recipient, first Word saves the file, (sometimes you even are required to create a name in the Save As box if it has never been saved before), then opens a dialog box where you can choose the format you wish to send it in, such as compressed or not, whether you want to attach it or add it "inline", etc, and then Word opens your default email application with a new email opened and ready for you to address and add any text message you may wish to include.
The act of taking a screen capture with Windows built-in Print Screen utility doesn't have all the robust features of an Office application or similar full featured application. It doesn't perform any of these built-in functions. So, they each must be carried out manually, one at a time. You take the capture, transfer it to Paint or another image editing application, then use the Save As command to create a file, then open your default mail application, or the one of your choice, then use its tools to either attach it to the email, or insert it into the body of the message. You then address and add any text message you wish and click Send.
If you wish to compress or change the format or extension you carry out these tasks manually as well. If you wish to compress you can use either the Windows built-in compression utility or a third party utility such as WinZip. If you wish to change the file extension so a different type of image application can open it on the recipients computer you can do so prior to attaching or inserting into the email. If the recipient doesn't have Paint, you can alter the extension to one which matches an image application on the recipients computer or the recipient can do so after receiving the file.
Now, you could save your screen captures into an image editing application which has the Send To feature. I use a third party image editing application which allows me to do this, and also allows me to basically do what Word does, and actually offers more features related to sharing images than Word does in its "automatic" document sharing.
Corel has image editors which allow this feature and so does several others.
What I am saying is this is not the fault of your email program, but a limitation of the screen capture utility. I only use two screen capture utilities, the system built-in one, and a third party screen capture application. Neither offers this built in capability you want, but that doesn't mean you couldn't locate one which does. I just don't need these types of built in features as I have different needs and requirements in how I manage my screen shots.
I hope this helps explain the situation in such a way which helps you find a utility or application which fits your needs and requirements. Good luck and have a nice evening.
Reply:Email is a text medium, so you can't send a picture as email, only as a file attached to an email. Why can't you carry water in a strainer? Same idea - you can't use some tools for things they weren't meant to do.

Yahoo is still having some problems at the moment. If you look you will find lots of people cannot send/receive/delete mail at the moment. I was advised to uninstall Javascript and then reinstall the latest version. This worked for me. If it does not for you then apparently it's only in the all new version. Also, is there any Dell laptop you would avoid, had bad experiences with?

Reply:hi you can go for DELL Inspiron computers solely for home use and also for basic games and multimedia works... For high end computing you can go for DELL XPS...
Reply:If it is not being used for gaming, you will need a laptop with a sizable hard drive, at least 80GB. You will need a good chunk of memory/RAM, at least 512 [2GB if being used for Vista], and most of all, good battery life. Most other features would be irrelevant if its being used at home.
If you can pick up a laptop that comes without an OS or comes with Linux, that'll save you heaps of money. If you do that, get and install Ubuntu Linux (ubuntu.com), and learn how to use it. Its fairly easy to use, but may take some time, but getting your laptop ~$250 cheaper is far worth it, and Ubuntu supports loads of applications to do with home use :)
Regarding Vista: My advice is, avoid it like the plague.

I'm not sure if that link will actually work or not, but, just in case it doesn't, all you have to do is get the the laptops on dell.com under "Home %26amp; Home Office" and check the cheapest group (Dell Inspiron Notebooks). One of those would probably be fine for what you want to do. Just make sure you have enough Memory (at least 2GB, I'd say) and hard drive space (anything 250GB and up is good).
Reply:if you're thinking of buying a laptop you should check out this site first. they give you a sony vaio laptop for FREE! all you need to do is complete a few quick tasks for them.
Reply:I think what you want is a desktop replacement. The Dell Vostros are well priced, and give decent performance. If you want a better looking laptop you can go with the HPs or the Dell Inspiron line. As for Dell laptops to avoid I don't know of any. I do know that they have lousy customer support, and they had an incident with the batteries exploding a few years ago. I would avoid Celeron processors, and 2 GB of RAM should be the minimum on a Vista system. Anything less than 2GB of RAM should be on XP.

I can not receive windows email.?
When I try to bring up windows email, I get errors and this message. You are not currently logged into your computer as an administator. Please log out and log back in as administrator then restart computer. I tried this, still nothing. What am I doing wrong?
I can not receive windows email.?
You should Check if your account is the administrator by clicking start, looking for control panel, and then checking user accounts and settings. The other way is by shutting down your computer and restarting while it restarts press f9 Repeadly to enter safe mode. If your computer has Administator enabled then it should work. Then do the same as the first step. If not then in the beginning of windows press alt+ctrl+delete for a special way to type in your account and password. Use the words Administator and no password to access the administator Options. If none of these works then maybe you need to check the program's options to see if there is anything wrong.

How to Share outlook express email between all users in windows XP??
I have Windows XP and i want to know how to share the outlook express e-mail full list (including history) AND other applications betweenall the users in the windows xp.
thanx for ur help ppl!!
How to Share outlook express email between all users in windows XP??
Unfortunately, Outlook needs to be configured separately for each user. And you can't exchange history, and a e-mail list, unless you set up a Microsoft Exchange Sever, which is what most High Schools and companies do. To share applications, you can install the program files in the "Program Files" folder on your C: drive. And put shortcuts to the applications in C:%26gt;Document's and Settings%26gt; All Users%26gt; Start Menu%26gt; All Programs . This is usually how the files are installed when you install a program on your computer.

Having problems with my windows email...
recently we've had a trojan vundo virus scare in my family with my mum's laptop and our desktop, both xp, but my laptop is vista nd avoided it. so my dad installed spyware doctor for extra protection on all computers. we share a wireless connection. Recently when i load up my computer, a message from symantec email proxy, spyware doctor and avast (although it doesnt seem to work) comes up saying basically the same thing: they cant manage my email protection and its now disabled. i dont even use the windows email, i use hotmail. now i cant even access the internet on my laptop, but the others can. please help!

too many anti-virus scanners. Really you should stick to one. It looks like a conflict
Maybe you should all decide which one to use and still with that
Reply:If you're running avast and symantec anti-virus at the same time, that's your problem. You should only run one on your computer, they conflict and cause neither to work properly. If you're only running one,I'd say you still have a virus or malware that isn't being detected.Go to www.threatfire.com and get free threatfire,I run that with my avast and I never have anything get by both together. After you install it run a full scan.Hopefully you have a way to put it on your laptop to run it.

How to print email from Outlook Explorer (Vista Version is called Windows?) ?
I typed up my email on outlook explorer and I'd wanted to print it but it's not allowing me to do so? Do you know the reason for this?
Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
How to print email from Outlook Explorer (Vista Version is called Windows?) ?
There's no such thing as Outlook Explorer, and we can't help you until we know if you mean Outlook or Outlook Express (XP) or Windows Mail (Vista).
"but it's not allowing me to do so"
You have to explain EXACTLY what you did, click by click, and any Error Message(s) you received. Then, maybe we can determine if it's a software, hardware or user error.
Also, does your printer (Make %26amp; Model #?) work OK with other programs?
Please re-post with full details, then maybe we can help.
Reply:Use Mozilla Thunderbird. www.mozilla.com

I was wondering how I can get a Windows Live Email account. (ie: myname@live.com) Please help me.
*** Wanted *** Windows (email@live.com) Email Address?
Hey Jaysun,
Currently, Microsoft does not officially offer @live.com email addresses.
Around September/November, Microsoft plans to make the live.com email addresses publically available, however, until then, your only hope is to search Google for the occasional registration exploit that is discovered. On average, one exploit is discovered every few months (the last being in June), but you need to be very quick, Microsoft usually fixes the exploits within hours.

richo.ideastorm
Reply:The only way that you would be able to get a whoever@live.com email address is to be the owner of the website, or be a webmaster within the website. MSN will only offer hotmail.com, or co.uk, depending on country of where you live to give you an email address. Sadly I really do not think that you will ever own a live.com website, as Microsoft have probably bought every live.com, co.uk, so that there is no way that others could spoof microsoft in creating dodgy websites. Sorry!!

I have received an email from yahoo/msn lottery inc %26amp; windows live online which is said i am a winner its true?
Sorry friend but there is no Microsoft, Yahoo or other e-mail lottery, it's a scam do not answer do not give personal information. The following sites give more information
http://www.snopes.com/crime/fraud/nigeri...
http://www.thescambaiter.com/forum/showt...
http://www.hoax-slayer.com/email-lottery...
.Also If you go to the following site you will get some info on ID theft www.identity-theft.org.uk the iinternet is safe enough if you are careful but please answer nothing that you are doubtful about.Good Luck and be careful
Reply:It is a scam. The first thing to remember is this. You can not win a lottery unless you enter it. Did you ever enter a lottery from MSN, Yahoo, or Windows Live??? NO you did not since there is not one. All those e-mails that say you have won a lottery either from MSN or some place that used your e-mail address or even the person from some other country that needs your help to get their funds from the bank. It is all a scam. There is NO ONE looking to give you Free money. It would be nice, yes. However, it is a scam.
Reply:You have not Won anything? It is a typical fraud from a person trying to take money from you. Just report the email as spam and delete it from your computer.
Also, do an immediate spyware sweep of your computer as it more than likely uploaded spyware the moment you opened the email. Whoever sent the email is more than likely tracking every keystroke you make on your computer to gain access to all your passwords to your bank, email, etc.
Reply:It's a fraud for sure. Mark that mail as spam. There are plenty of mails like this that one receives as spam with interesting subjects to gain attention of the user, and many times the end-user ends up getting infected with a spyware, getting trapped in giving out some fund to those people or getting his personal information at stake.

In Windows Photo gallery when I click on send photo by Email it fails to complete and issue a compose page.?
I have Windows Vista and this used to work fine last year, but now after sizing the photo and clicking on the button it tries to open but fades away.
In Windows Photo gallery when I click on send photo by Email it fails to complete and issue a compose page.?
Size of the pic is too large for the web. Try to re-size it.
Or, extension file is not associated, if it is .JPEG just save it as .JPG or .IMG or even .GIF
Reply:The Window that I am referring to does resize you chosen Photo. The Window is in photo gallery and after selecting the photo and clicking on the Email tab,one then has a choice of sizes to choose from. After this step it used to put you into a compose window with the photo number included. T.Fenwick Report Abuse

I have received an email, It is from Yahoo/MSN Lottery Inc & windows live, advising I have won money? True ?
Is this a hoax email ? Is there any such thing as Yahoo/MSN %26amp; microsoft windows electronic balloting system, which draws 5 winners per month - from: Msn/Yahoo Lottery Incorporation
Baley House, Har Road
Sutton, Greater London

United Kingdom.
I have received an email, It is from Yahoo/MSN Lottery Inc %26amp; windows live, advising I have won money? True ?
Nope... I can show you a copy of the exact same email, with the exact same details telling me that I am also a winner.
Unfortunately, it's a scam. Don't reply to it, as you'll be added to their 'real address' list, and they'll keep sending you more. It's also possible that just by opening it you've been added, but that's not 100% definite (whereas replying is).
Reply:no there is not.. it is a scam to get you to give out you name address and bank details so that the sender can get money in your name and leave you in debt for the rest of your days

Since upgrading to windows vista from xp i am receiving an excessive amount of junk email - any idea why?
Firewall is on, fraud monitoring is on etc. is there any way of setting up a ghost IP address?
Since upgrading to windows vista from xp i am receiving an excessive amount of junk email - any idea why?
i always unplug the pc from the internet when installing an operating system and install a software firewall and antispyware app and run it before i get it online for the first time ...
Reply:There are only two things you can do about junk email
1) Use a filter so the junk email is automatically sorted to another mail box.
2) Change your email address (and then be very careful who you give that address to).
It has nothing to do with what operating system/version of Windows you are using EXCEPT you may have unwittingly changed your spam filter settings when you upgraded.
Reply:i don't know, sorry,, but i got vista too and nothing seems to work right. it sucks. but good luck on fixing your problem.
Reply:Windows have just released a batch of Vista updates which includes a fix for junk mail good luck
Reply:It is just coincidence. Some one got into the mail server and got the addresses, or you used your e-mail address somewhere in a response to an ad, or even an on line purchase from a shady company that sold your info. OS has nothing to do with it since you are not your own mail server.
Reply:It may be you had junk filters set up on your mail client. These may not work on Vista, so you may need to set them up again. Your IP address has no effect on emails received, as you are collecting them from a server.

I am trying to set up windows email and need to input pop3 or smtp etc where do i get this info?
On alot of internet providers websites there is a link to a programme to run which will set all this in outlook for you all you need do then is to fill in usernames and passwords but pop3 and smtp are usually mail. followed by the name of your provider such as mail.btinternet.com
I am trying to set up windows email and need to input pop3 or smtp etc where do i get this info?
Your ISP should have a help page that will tell you the pop and smtp settings. Search the help pages for smtp or pop settings. It's usually something like smtp.ISP.com.
Reply:Your internet provider. That pop stuff is a nightmare.
Reply:either look up the paper work for your internet service provider (Bell or Rogers or whoever) or else give them a call and tell them you are trying to configure your email and you need the smtp and pop settings.

How do I import my yahoo email into Windows Mail?
By spending Money, the same way as you "bought" the Windows.
In this case it will be a recurring annual expense. Opt for Yahoo Plus. It is possible for people to use the Microsoft Software pirated versions. Not with Yahoo Mail. Those who have the Free Service of Yahoo can't get Mail into cell phone, Outlook Express etc.
How do I import my yahoo email into Windows Mail?
Not sure if this is possible for you but I use Mozilla Thunderbird rather than Windows Mail. It runs within Vista and allows the use of extensions. One extension, Webmail, allows you to send and receive mail from most web based email accounts.

Reply:I'm not sure, but my sister did it and now all of her emails in yahoo mail are deleted and she doesn't know how to get them back. I'd suggest not importing them.

you would get more answers for this if you put it in the right section....
they will use your ip address to check if that address is the most commonly used to acess the account. also, why not answer your secret questions?

Windows Email for Vista (Pop3 & SMTP)?
I need to know how to find out what my Incoming email (Pop3 or IMAP) and Outgoing email (SMTP) names are for Windows Mail. I am using Windows Vista. Does anyone know how to find this information?
Windows Email for Vista (Pop3 %26amp; SMTP)?
Since you're a Yahoo! mail user.. You can use Windows Mail as your email client to send and receive emails. If you have a "yahoo.com account [US accnt]", you have to purchase a Yahoo! Mail Plus subscription in order to use the POP3 and SMTP server for your Windows Mail. However, if your Yahoo! Mail account is "yahoo.co.uk [UK accnt]", you can use the POP3 and SMTP server for you Windows Mail FOR FREE..
So, if you have a "yahoo.co.uk" accnt,
the POP3 server is "pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk"
for SMTP server is "smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk"
If you don't have a "yahoo.co.uk" accnt, and you don't want to purchase a Yahoo! Mail Plus subscription, I suggest you create a "yahoo.co.uk" accnt.. OR you can use other email accnt like gmail..
I personally have a yahoo.co.uk accnt so I get the POP3 and SMTP server working on Windows Mail for free!
Goodluck!

Reply:it has nothing to do with windows vista.. you get that info from your internet provider for example I use googles "GMAIL" my pop settings are "pop.gmail.com" and I also have verizon e-mail for that account its "incoming.yahoo.verizon.net" for pop and for outgoing mail SMTP its "outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net" so you need to get that from your internet provider like "Comcast" the site below lists some

Yeah. Open up your Control Panel and select Folder Options. Choose the File Type tab. Find your PowerPoint files in this list. Select one file at a time and using the "change" button, select Powerpoint as the default. That should get you up and running again.

Can you save multiple attachments from an email in one go on Windows live hotmail
lol how to download them all at once
Can you save multiple attachments from an email in one go on Windows live hotmail
Yes. Download and Install Windows Live and Windows Live Mail Attachment Extractor from the websites listed in the sources section. The extractor will take attachments not from just one e-mail but all e-mails stored in a folder (up to 20 e-mails at a time in the trial version) Here's how to do it:
1. Set up your account in Windows Live.
2. If desired, make a Folder that will store the attachments.
3. Open the extractor.
4. Click on the folder in the middle pane where the attachments can go.
5. Right click on the folder in the left pane that has the email(s) that you want to extract from.
6. Click "Extract Attachments To ..." If desired, change the options, and then click ok.

Whats the easiest way to set up a windows email?? ( explain??)?
To answer this question let me explain a little bit about email system.
Firstly windows only provide the products that can connect to thirds party email servers like yahoo, hotmail or corporate email systems.
Email system like yahoo, hotmail, gmail etc work on a pop3 convention, pop3 is a standard and corporate emails have there own standards.
windows provides two products MICROSOFT OUTLOOK and OUTLOOK EXPRESS.
Both products will connect to any email server.
You have to add an account and select pop3 as type for hotmail, yahoo , gmail of any other public domain emails.
If you are using yahoo mail then they charge a small fee to provide POP3 access to there email server to retrieve your emails for that you will have to contact yahoo to gain access.
However I know there is a utility available for download for free that will bypass this fee. Google it.
To setup a pop3 access provide the information needs when setting up the account. You will need a seperate account setup for each @domain (hotmail, gmail or anything else).
Important point to note.
1. using windows email client bypasses virus scanning that is done when accessing the emails directly on gmail, hotmail or yahoo. Which exposes you computer to virus infections and subsequently everybody in your address book. I was once using windows client but soon gave up because of virus issues. It is not worth it.
2. The emails are downloaded from server directly onto your local drive, which means they are not available online when trying to read on the internet. I know some offer an option to keep it available online too, but I dont they work really well.
3. I have experience sync issues. Many times the email server resends the same emails again because the windows client failed to tell the server it has already received the email once.
4. Sent emails are not available online either.
So think carefully before switching. No option is available to upload all your emails should to you decide to switch back.

Switch from the built in mail (Outlook Express on XP, Windows Mail on Vista) to Thunderbird. The mail can only display because the built mail is linked to Windows.

How do you compress photos to email using Yahoo Mail. I am on Windows Vista.?
Make sure they are all in just one folder then right button of mouse on the folder, and select Send to Zip. The folder will then be compressed and when composing your message you can then attach the folder. If you do not zip the folder in this way you have to attach photo files one by one.
How do use windows email? i don't know my server information in order to send and receive emails?
If you want to use Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird or other third party email clients to view your email you have 2 options.
Subscribe to mail plus:
http://billing.mail.yahoo.com/bm/Upgrade...
or download and install YPOPS
http://ypopsemail.com/
then follow the directions for your version of outlook here,
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/or...
If you have trouble with set up, check the YPOPS installation page for alternate set up instructions.
http://dbeusee.home.comcast.net/
Click on YPOPS link on the left.
Then Click on Configuring email clients towards the bottom.
Choose the appropriate link for your mail client.
I currently utilize version 2.0.0.4 of Thunderbird
and version 0.8.3 of YPOPS (there is a more recent version of YPOPS that you need if you are Yahoo Beta Mail) and have no problems.
How do use windows email? i don't know my server information in order to send and receive emails?
Hi Amanda...What I would do is just call my Internet Provider and ask them to help you set up your account. My provider does this without charge. You should have got a disk from your IP too, sometimes all that is on there is a driver for the USB. You didn't mention alot so I think it is best to call your IP. All of them I have ever had have helped me and stayed with me until it was up and running. Happy Valentine's Day.

hotmail, yahoo, gmail....
Reply:Hotmail used to work with outlook back in the days. I have not used it in about 3 years but I don't think they changed anything as far as using it with outlook.
Reply:Hotmail (or Live) works well with it.
Almost any email service works with Outlook, it's all a matter of setting it up correctly.

On my new laptop, with Windows Vista, how do I connect Windows Mail to my main computer's email?
I want to use my outlook express and somehow load my saved emails etc into this new Windows Mail program. I inputted the pop3 numbers, ingoing and outgoing servers etc, but my new email isn't working.
On my new laptop, with Windows Vista, how do I connect Windows Mail to my main computer's email?
You are in the Yahoo Products/Yahoo Mail category, but review the following info.
Vista; http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/windows...
Import messages into Windows Mail from Outlook Express http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows...
Applies to all editions of Windows Vista.
Which edition of Windows Vista am I using?
When you upgrade a computer running Windows XP to Windows Vista, Windows automatically imports any messages and contacts you have in Outlook Express to Windows Mail. (Outlook Express has been replaced in Windows Vista by Windows Mail.)
If you are not upgrading but want to transfer your Outlook Express messages to a computer running Windows Vista, then you need to transfer the messages manually or use Windows Easy Transfer.
If you are just transferring Outlook Express messages (and not all your other files and settings) from a computer running Windows XP, you may find it easier to use the manual method described here.
On the computer running Windows XP, do the following:
1.
The folder that contains the Outlook Express messages is marked as a hidden folder in Windows. To view this hidden folder, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Appearance and Themes, and then click Folder Options. Click the View tab, and under Hidden files and folders, click Show hidden files and folders.
2.
Locate the folder named Outlook Express. In Windows XP, this folder is located here by default: C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{your Windows user identity number}\Microsoft\Outlook Express.
3.
Copy the Outlook Express folder and all its contents to the Documents folder on the computer running Windows Vista. (You can store this copy of the Outlook Express folder in a location other than the Documents folder, as long as you remember where to find it.) For information about how to copy a folder, see Copy files to another computer.
On the computer running Windows Vista, do the following:
1.
Open Windows Mail by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking All Programs, and then clicking Windows Mail.
2.
Click the File menu, point to Import, and then click Messages.
3.
Click Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and then click Next.
4.
Make sure Import mail from an OE6 store directory is selected, and then click OK.
5.
Click Browse, find the Outlook Express folder you copied to this computer, and then click the folder once to select it. (Do not open the folder when you select it.)
6.
Click Select Folder, and then click Next.
7.
Click All folders to import all the folders, or click Selected folders and select which message folders you want to import, and then click Next.
8.
Click Finish.
Notes
* The Windows user identity number is different for every user. It will be inside brackets and look similar to this sample number: {8389CA60-ED34-11DB-95EE-10AE55D89593}
* If Windows XP is installed on another hard disk location other than your C: drive, use that drive letter instead of C: when searching for your Outlook Express folder.
* Outlook Express stores your messages in a folder that contains several different .dbx files. These files (folders.dbx, inbox.dbx, outbox.dbx) contain all your messages. Windows Mail cannot import any of these files individually; you must import the entire Outlook Express folder.
* If Windows Mail is unable to import your messages, make sure none of the files in the Outlook Express folder are marked Read only. Open the folder, select all the files, right-click them, click Properties, and make sure the Read only check box is cleared.
* Windows Mail cannot import messages from IMAP or HTTP e-mail accounts, even if those messages were stored in Outlook Express. For information about these e-mail types, see POP3, SMTP, and other e-mail server types. Windows Mail also cannot import any newsgroup messages you may have had stored in Outlook Express.
You can also import your Outlook Express Address Book into Windows Contacts so you can use these contacts with Windows Mail. For more information, see Import, export, or change the format for contacts. http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows...
Windows XP; From Microsoft, Moving Files and Settings to a New PC; Complete article here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...
After you have set up a new PC, you will likely face the hurdle of transferring your e-mail messages, your address book, and all your important files from your old computer to the new one. You鈥檙e probably wondering, how do I move everything to my new PC, quickly and reliably?
The challenge is more daunting than it appears. Do you really want to use floppies or even Zip disks to transfer multiple gigabytes of digital music and photographs? Don't assume that you can easily find all of your important files, either. Windows programs often hide important files in "secret" locations. E-mail messages stored in Outlook Express, for instance, are stored in a hidden folder and can't easily be imported to your new computer.
Windows XP offers a powerful tool designed to automate this task for you. The Files and Settings Transfer Wizard looks easy enough to use, but its quirks can be frustrating. In this column, I'll show you three ways to work around those idiosyncrasies so that the migration process goes more smoothly. Complete article here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...

How do i get my windows live email to work on firefox?
hi i am able to get all my emails even saved ones on internet explorer but when i open firefox all i get is the new emails not able to get the ones i have read. i am using windows xp sp3.please help
How do i get my windows live email to work on firefox?
There might be some compatibility issues between Firefox and Live Mail.
Live Mail is a Microsoft product so they design it to be displayed in Internet Explorer which is also a Microsoft product.
That said, Microsoft were criticised for this a few years ago and several times after. It has been made compatible on numerous occasions, but I think Microsoft's priority in on their own browser being compatible.
Someone has posted a blog recently about this and Firefox 3:
http://www.bernzilla.com/item.php?id=997
Just sounds like a compatibility issue as usual.

Nah, I get my mail within 30 seconds. depending on its size
My Windows Live Email is taking ages to arrive. Anyone else in the same boat?
Could be slow internet connection. Or a slow browser. Or a slow computer. Or a combination of all of the above.
Also, try change your Hotmail settings to "classic". I agree, Windows "Live" email is overrated and rubbish. Too much clutter and junk.
Reply:I find that with mine !

My Windows Live Email is taking ages to arrive. Anyone else in the same boat?
Nah, I get my mail within 30 seconds. depending on its size
My Windows Live Email is taking ages to arrive. Anyone else in the same boat?
Could be slow internet connection. Or a slow browser. Or a slow computer. Or a combination of all of the above.
Also, try change your Hotmail settings to "classic". I agree, Windows "Live" email is overrated and rubbish. Too much clutter and junk.
Reply:I find that with mine !
I dont enjoy using windows live email it take ages to load
Then my email doesn't come for days.
It's a problem for me.
I use Yahoo Mail and Microsoft Outlook Express. They Are Good To Use
